Maggie's Pre-Birthday

Maggie's birthday isn't until tomorrow, but we celebrated it today so that we could all be together as a family.  Jonathan's been working 18 hour days with spud harvest, so the kids haven't seen him all week (he's gone before they're up, and they're down for bed before he's back.)  Sundays are so enjoyable when we just get to kick back and enjoy family time.

Whenever I asked Maggie what kind of birthday cake she wanted, she responded with, "a pink one."  This is what we ended up with.  Three little tiers for three years old :)

Jonathan's parents came up and spent part of the day with us.  We ate lunch, watched general conference, opened presents, had cake, and relaxed :)  It doesn't get much better than that!

Maggie always wants to wear a skirt, and she ends up wearing the same two over and over again because they're the only two that she has.  I sewed her a bunch of new skirts for her birthday to solve that problem.  The tutu is for dress-ups and for Halloween.  She also got to pick out a few goldfish at Wal-Mart a few days ago, and Grandma and Grandpa gave her a cute book, fuzzy socks, and some toy kitchen utensils/cookie cutters.  I think she had a good day.  I really can't believe she's already three.  I'm so lucky to be her mom!

Maggie loves:

  • pink.
  • kitties, fishies, ducks, horses, most dogs, cows...ok, pretty much any animal.
  • her brother Lane.
  • Tractors, combines, and school buses.
  • Mac and cheese.
  • coloring.
  • dancing to the toddler radio station on Pandora.com
  • Monsters Inc. and Finding Nemo.
  • Daddy and Mommy :)
  • Riding in Daddy's truck.
  • Helping me do the dishes, and mopping.
  • Playing hide and seek.
  • Her aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandparents.
  • Having her finger nails painted, and dressing up in dresses.
  • Going to church.
Maggie also:
  • Is afraid of monsters in her room at bedtime.
  • Has a language of her own.  Some words are clear, but we have had a hard time getting her to enunciate better.
  • Just cut her bangs the other day.  They actually ended up looking planned, thank goodness.  I was cutting Lane's hair and didn't realize the hair scissors were where she could reach them.
  • Is shy at times, and really social other times.  She loves to smile and wave at people.
  • Blows my mind at the things she learns every day.
  • Says really cute prayers.

 My, how she has grown!

Other than Maggie's birthday, the only news is that she got her stitches out on Wednesday, which went fairly well.  I don't think they hurt, she was just scared so we had to hold her down, which made her even more mad.

We also went and rode with Daddy in the tractor yesterday.  Lane really wanted to drive it.  Maggie had fun watching all the potatoes fall into the trucks and waving at all the drivers.  As fun as it was, I am looking forward to the end of spud harvest!
