Speaking of...

Speaking of things that are not high on my fondness list (see previous post)...

A few nights ago, Maggie woke up in the middle of the night crying. I went into her room and rocked her for a minute when I heard one of my very least favorite noises. Scratchity-scritch-scratch and other ruckus inside Maggie's wall. I think that's why she woke up, and I don't blame her. I had a hard time sleeping after that.

I can't say how much I despise mice! We have only ever seen one mouse since we moved here, which is better than expected considering our home is older and there's a wheat field behind our house. Now though I'm afraid some have taken up residency.

I am not a huge fan of cats, but I believe they have their place--especially when mice are involved. My friend's cat recently had kittens and I had been contemplating getting one mostly because I knew Maggie would enjoy it. After the noise in the night, my decision was final; we drove down the road and picked out a little siamese kitten.

She doesn't have a name yet (suggestions are appreciated). The little kitten follows Maggie around everywhere! It's pretty cute watching the two of them together. Well, cute until Maggie gets a little too rough. I've decided that having a fragile little kitten around is good preparation for a baby brother. It will (hopefully) help Maggie learn to be gentle before the little one gets here.
Considering how the tiny thing is not much larger than a mouse itself, it might be a while before it lends its assistance with the problem in the wall. I'm sure Maggie will have fun with it in the mean time :)

I've been debating about getting a kitten for Rain. I can't decide, though. Our dogs come in the house, but absolutely NO CATS are allowed in the house. But right now our yard isn't really adequate for a cat AND dogs, so I don't know when the cat addition will come. Hmmm.
