Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day! I hope all of you have had a great day. I want to say "thank you" to all of the fathers in my life--you are all wonderful men and I appreciate your examples in my life!

This is Jonathan's Father's Day/my hospital recovery/preparing for a new baby present. We were able to get this nice recliner for half off during a sale last week. It's a La-Z-Boy microfiber recliner with an aged leather look. Our old recliner didn't have a lot of back support and I was having a hard time getting comfortable in it to elevate my leg. This one is plenty plush and comfortable. Plus the old recliner left a gap between the chair and the footrest when it was reclined. Maggie always climbed between the gap which made me nervous because she would have been severely injured if for some reason the chair ever gave out. This one reclines in one solid piece, so there is no gap for her to get caught in.

Since we splurged on the recliner my gift to Jonathan today was pretty low key. A mushy note, cookies, Pringles, a Twix bar, and yummy top sirloin steak for supper (which may not have been much of a gift since I made him do the grilling...I just prepared the rest of the food.)

Maggie put this outfit on all by herself and then rode her stick horse around the house. She makes for a cute little cowgirl if I may say so myself. The boots are new, but a little too big...as is the hat, but she makes do. She is obsessed with the boots (and all shoes for that matter) and puts them on at least ten times a day. Our house is always cluttered with shoes now because she is always pulling my shoes out of my closet and walking around in them. When she gets tired of that pair she leaves it for another one.

Yesterday I called around to a few local nurseries. Most of them were sold out of tomato and vegetable plants because it's later in the season. Wal-mart still had plenty, but I haven't been impressed with their nursery stock this year. One nursery told me they had a few plants left and everything was 40% off--I figured it was worth looking. We went and found a few huge tomato plants for the same price the little tiny plants were at Wal-mart. The cherry tomato plants are already bursting with green fruit and the larger ones have a few tomatoes forming as well. I know it's not ideal to transplant them when they already have fruit and blossoms on them, but it sure beats my limp frost damaged dead plants. so the good news is I'll at least have tomatoes (praying we don't get another freeze). They didn't have any squash or melon plants though. I might just throw a few seeds out and if they don't mature in time it's no loss since at this point I wont be getting any anyway.
