Rodeo Weekend

One of my favorite weekends of the summer has come and gone, but not without making a few memories.

We saw lots of family members that we don't see often. Maggie seemed to have fun watching her cousins run around. In fact, it was probably incentive because she started standing up on her own while we were there. Before this point she always used something to pull herself up. Maggie turned 10 months old while we were there. I've started calling her our little seagull because she loves to squawk and scream (this is especially interesting during church).

My mother-in-law and I went on a pretty drive to see if we could find some ripe huckleberries. I absolutely love that area of Idaho! It's gorgeous. Maggie sat in the stroller while we picked a few berries. They were just starting to get ripe so I only picked about a cup. It looks like it's going to be a good year though. Usually I hoard them all so that I have them to make pie and jam with. Since I only had a cup though I allowed myself to eat them fresh instead of freezing them for later. Heaven.

I sadly don't have any pictures from the weekend except for the one above of my father-in-law running the combine. He does not like pictures, so hopefully I am not sent to Daughter-in-Law-Purgatory for snapping this of him :) It's not really a picture of him though, so I'm hoping I'll be forgiven. Jonathan went a round in the combine with his younger brother, so I took a few pictures of them too.
With the rodeo over, huckleberry season starting, and grain harvest beginning I can't help to sense a feeling that fall is just around the corner. Autumn is my favorite time of year, but I'm a little sad that summer has gone so fast.

Great pictures! I know what you mean. I love fall. The colors, the smells, the weather, but only a month of summer? Oh well, come what may and love it.
