In Loving Memory

Jonathan's maternal grandmother passed away on Wednesday, August 5th. She was 98 and lived a long fulfilling life. It was a bit unexpected, but we're sure she's happier now. Part of her obituary is included below, (I've abbreviated every one's last names and deleted their home towns because the internet makes me paranoid).

FAIRVIEW - Dona Eliza C. G. 98, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 5, 2009, at the Heritage Home in Preston, Idaho. She was born July 16, 1911, in Cove, Utah, to Joseph Nephi and Bertha Orvilla B. C. She grew up in Cove with her brothers and sisters: Nephi, Orvilla, Florence, Alden, Henry and Birch, all of who have preceded her in death. She attended USAC in Logan, Utah, where she met Merlin Joseph G., and on June 27, 1934, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Dona and Merlin lived on the family farm in Fairview, Idaho, where they worked together and raised their family. Together they served a mission in 1978-79 to Oakland, Calif. She was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in many capacities. She also was an officiator in the Logan Temple for 1979 to 1993. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and family over the years. She always enjoyed gardening, canning, making quilts and crocheting many articles for her family, and especially spending time wither her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her children, Arlo (Ann G.) of California; Madge (Stephen) M. of Idaho; Max (Connie) G. of Idaho; 18 grandchildren and 40 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 8, 2009, at 1 p.m. with Bishop Howard D. Nelson conducting. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of the Heritage Home for the care they gave to Dona.
