Yet Another Baby Update

I went to the doctor yesterday and everything is still looking good. I am 36 weeks pregnant now. I weighed two pounds less than I did at the previous appointment...but I'll keep the total to myself. It is weird to see the scale that high! The doctor said it was fine that I weighed less though, so that's not a concern. She is head down, so hopefully she'll stay that way. I asked the nurse what they have my due date as in the computer and she said the 28th, so I guess that's what I'll tell people now. I go back on the 9th.

It makes me wonder though if my doctor has a strategy with his pregnant patients, and honestly if I was a doctor I think I'd do the same thing. See, my doctor isn't a big fan of inducing a women just because she is "over" her due date. He feels it usually causes more complications than letting the baby decide when it's time to come, especially since due dates can be miscalculated. He'll induce if there's a medical reason to such as complications with the pregnancy or the baby getting too large, but he won't induce just to relieve the mother. So I think he tells the woman a later due date than what is actually calculated so that he can make her happy by moving her due date up instead of back. Plus that way less women will pester him about being induced because they haven't gone over the due date they were used to having for 8 months. Make sense? Don't get me wrong, I really like my doctor and if this is his strategy I am okay with it...I think it's smart. The reason I think all this is because at my very first appointment he told me that my due date would be September 28. This date came from the gestational age. Then he ultrasounded me and said going off of the size it looked more like October 13. So he "recalculated" and told me my due date was October 3, but I don't think he ever changed it from the 28th in the computer. Am I making any sense? It's really not that different, only five days. My point is that a pregnant lady would rather be told she's five days ahead of schedule than five days behind, and I think that's his strategy.

As a side note, you may have noticed my shorter hair in the picture. It's kind of hard to tell since it's in a pony tail, but I whacked four and a half inches off. And when I say "I" whacked it off, I literally mean "I". Call me crazy, brave, desperate, weird, or whatever you want. I had tried getting a hair appointment, but to no avail. On Friday I was so sick of my hair that I cut it myself. It was a little difficult, but I really needed something shorter and easier to do since it is getting harder for me to get ready for the day:o) My two hair styles are curly and in a bun. I figured with either hair style you can't tell if the hair cut is perfectly even, so it didn't matter if I got it perfect. I just had to make it somewhat even. It's shorter than I'm used to, but my hair grows really fast any way, especially while I'm on prenatal vitamins. Jonathan liked the fact that we didn't have to pay to get my hair done. Now I'm a little nervous he'll want me to cut it myself every time-I'm pretty sure I'll have to really be hating my hair again before I'll do it myself. I still prefer a professional.

OK, I really really love your doctor's method of dating a pregnancy, if what you are thinking is correct. Let me tell you... My original due date with Myles was Dec. 6. Then, don't worry it went to the 26th TWENTY WHOLE DAYS are you kidding me??? They told me they would induce me the 29th if he didn't come. I had him on Dec. 29th. I really like how your doctor does things!
