This last week we...

We visited Daddy at work.  He needed some help moving some heifers and of course Maggie wanted a ride when we were finished :)
I bought a walker for Lane because he gets into everything he shouldn't, and sometimes I need him happily contained so I can accomplish something.  Maggie, of course, thought it was a new toy for her.  I told her she was too big and that it was only for babies like Lane.  So what did she do?  She ran into Lane's room and put his shirt and his pants on, then came back out and said, "See mom, I am a baby."  Hmmm...
I put my camera strap around my neck, set the camera on self-time mode, and spun Maggie around.  This is what we ended up with :)
We found out that Maggie is allergic to mosquitoes.  She had some bug bites that I thought were mosquito bites, but they just kept getting worse.  Then two of them on her arm spread until they covered about 1/4 of her arm with a red rash.  At this point I was positive they must be spider bites or something much more serious, so we went to the doctor to play it safe.  Apparently this is fairly common on Jonathan's side of the family.  He gave her some prescription Benedryl and hydrocortizone cream and they are basically cleared up now.  It doesn't help that Maggie apparently has the best tasting blood this side of the Mississippi and that every mosquito in the county swarms to her as soon as she steps foot outside.  The bug spray is now in plain sight by the door so I will remember to spray her before she goes outside.

I'm not sure if I should write this, but I guess I will because If I only wrote about things that are fun and exciting then I wouldn't be giving an accurate account of our lives around here, right?  I don't get vein-popping mad very easily, but I did the other day, and it involved one of the crop dusters that's been flying around here.  I was irate, or at least as irate as I remember being in a long time.  I don't mean to be cryptic, but I didn't want to put all the details on here for who-knows to see.  Anyway I'm glad that Jonathan is my knight in shining armor that is willing to go out and slay dragons for me (A.K.A. drive to the airport to give the pilot a piece of his mind and straighten things out.)

We've been seeing/hearing mice around lately :-/  Mice are my nemesis, especially when they wake us up two nights in a row because they knocked a mason jar out of the pantry.  It took me all day to clean out and disinfect the pantry to see what they might have gotten into, which wasn't much, but I wasn't taking any chances.  I didn't feel safe feeding my family anything until I knew where the mice might have been.  The pantry is now sparkling, poison has been strategically placed, and I think the problem is under control now.  This is why I keep getting cats though, to prevent a mouse problem.  Our house must be the feline Bermuda Triangle though.  I don't know what happens to them, but they keep disappearing without a trace.  I'm guessing it's loose dogs that this town seems to have a plethora of.  So I got two kittens this time in hopes that they could use the buddy system to stay safe :)  So far so good.  (Well, actually I got an adult cat too, but it was a little wild and ran away to our neighbor's house to eat her cat's food and I haven't seen it since.)  I thought I should preface the following cute video with that lengthy description in case you wondered where the new cats came from (and yes, Lane's crawling).
 There I think that's all.
