Slacker

I haven't blogged for a while, so here's my attempt at catching up:

  •  Maggie was a ballerina for Halloween.  She pronounced it "Halloweena" for part of the night though.  Then she told everyone that she was a princess for the other half of the night.  Lane was an artist.  He held his palette the whole time, with his thumb through the hole and everything.  He was technically Bob Ross from the PBS painting program, but he ripped the "Hello, my name is Bob Ross" label off of his shirt, so he was just a painter.  I painted his "masterpiece" one night in about an hour...I kind of surprised myself, seems how I haven't pulled out my art supplies in a long long time.
  • We spent the next weekend in Reno for a Red Angus sale.  We left the kids with Jonathan's parents.  It was my first time away from the kids.  I knew they'd be in good care, so I wasn't worried about them surviving.  I was more worried about my survival being without them.  I only got emotional a few times, so I guess I did good.  I was really looking forward to some good nights' sleep, but it turns out that Reno isn't a very friendly city for a Podunk girl to feel safe sleeping in.  Between an uncomfortable hotel bed and sirens through the night I didn't really get the uninterrupted sleep I had hoped for :)  Plus, I made the mistake of watching the news before bed and every story was about a local murder case with the suspects on the run :-/  On the way back we stopped in Battle Mountain, where we used to live, and ate with a few friends.  It was nice to see them.  We have a lot of memories from that place, and it was nice to be back, in a weird kind of way.
  • Since then I've been busy making a whole bunch of Christmas gifts.  We're pretty much having a homemade Christmas this year (more on that some other time) and I want to be able to bring everyone's gifts with us when we travel for Thanksgiving so that I don't have to ship them.  I always feel bad when part of my gift budget has to be used on freight.  Plus I got a few orders for my "business" venture with my sister that I need to finish up too.
  • Hopefully that covered everything from the last three weeks. With most of the Christmas planning and creating out of the way I am really looking forward to this Holiday season and being able to focus on the true meaning of the season :)  Happy Thanksgiving!
