Back Burner

Sorry for my lack of posts lately...

I have a long list of Memory Mondays to write, and a long list of things to blog about; however, the blog is not my top priority right now so it will temporarily be on the back burner until my other projects are out of the way.

Project number one is the saddle.  I'm going to have it finished by Father's Day.  No ifs or buts about it.  That means I have eighteen days until my five year project is finally finished.  Eighteen days until the big reveal.  I am getting really excited.

Project number two is my picture book.  I need to tweak a few things with the text and illustrate two to four pages of it.  Then it's off to a few publishers.  After that I'll have to wait three to six  months and hope I hear back from one of them.  Thankfully, our library had a copy of the Children's Writer's Market, which includes a list of all the children's publishers and their criteria for submissions.  It's pretty daunting since most of them will only publish ten percent of new authors, and most of them only accept agented writers.  So having no agent and no name for myself makes my chances very slim...but there's also a very long list and I'm hoping at least one of them (that I meet the criteria for) will like my story enough to turn it into a book.  I like it a lot, but I'm also biased :)

So, don't worry about us.  We're still alive and well, just too busy to blog much.  I'll try to write about our Memorial Day weekend, but I'm not making any guarantees.

Here's one more thing in case you didn't read it on facebook:  I was explaining to Maggie that we live in Idaho.  I asked her to say "I-da-ho" and instead she said, "Me-da-ho."  It took us a second to figure out why she said it that way, but then it dawned on us and we thought it was pretty funny.  Then later I think she said "Me-tah" instead of Utah (or is it Youtah?), but I might have just heard her wrong.  Silly girl.  I guess she's starting to grasp the concept of personal pronouns :)
