Hot Lips

Yesterday we went grocery shopping.  Maggie insisted to "walk, walk" when I put her in the cart, so I told her (like I always do) that I would let her walk if she promised to stay right by my side and not touch anything or pull anything off the shelves.  For the most part she's obedient, but not always.  I was busy picking out produce when, to my horror, I looked down just in time to see Maggie biting into a whole jalapeño pepper.  "NO NO NO!" I yelled, like a mad woman as I grabbed it from her.  Miraculously, her sharp little teeth didn't penetrate the skin of the pepper.  At least I don't think they did; she did say "hot" after I took it from her, but there was no crying.  I really hadn't planned on buying a jalapeño, but I figured I probably should since she slobbered all over it.  I'm not going to lie though, I was tempted to put it back.  I have no use for a jalapeño.

Lane has been sleeping through the night consistently for the last week and a half.  It's oh so nice to get a full night of sleep.  It took Maggie a year to get her sleeping through the night consistently, so this is a pleasant surprise :)  Today is his five month birthday.  Time flies and babies grow too fast!  I brought a meal in to a lady in our ward that just had a baby; I was flabbergasted when I saw the size difference between Lane and a newborn!  He was 15 pounds 5 ounces when we weighed him last week.

Remember when I mentioned that I've been wanting to plant edimame soybeans in my garden for the past three or four years, but the seed is always sold out when I go to order it?  I've searched high and low for some seed that was available and I did find some, but it was all way too expensive once shipping was included.  Well, my search is finally over!  Yesterday I found some in the tiny little garden section that our grocery store had set up.  Ha!  My grocery store of all places had it!  Now it just needs to hurry up and get warm.  I'm afraid my spring fever is now in full force--triggered by the warm weather we've had recently. (It's pretty sad that I call upper 30s warm, but hey, it was above freezing for once!)

Jonathan went back to his old job working on the ranch.  He just didn't enjoy being a tractor/implement salesman and things weren't panning out there like we had hoped or expected.  He really missed the physical labor of ranch work, not to mention how badly he missed working with cattle.  We see him a little less now, but he comes home much happier and less stressed.  The bull sale is coming up soon and after that we should have some fun family time on the road delivering bulls.  I'm looking forward to that.

I think I would have been tempted to put it back too. What would I use a jalapeno for?

You just can't beat working on the ranch, huh. That's Shane, too. He would die behind a desk. He needs the physical labor to work off stress (and a pound or two). Besides, he really does love his cows. Can't wait to hear your bull sale adventures!
