We're officially snowed in. Jonathan's work closed early today out of fear that the employees would get stranded at work. He couldn't even make it into the driveway when he got home. At this point we're planning on spending Thanksgiving here. Even if the weather did stop blowing and snowing right now, it would take us two days to dig ourselves out of here. I'm feeling very thankful for food storage and an alternative source of heat should the power go out.
The video shows our predicament a little better than the pictures did yesterday. We now have a drift as high as our roof. Most of our windows are completely covered with snow. Our front door has at least three feet of snow blocking it and the other door keeps freezing at the seal making it nearly impossible to open...not that we want to. Luckily the drifts on the south end of the house (the direction the wind is coming from) are nearly as tall as the roof, so they are offering a nice wind block so it doesn't get as cold inside.

I guess the road report shows just how bad it is too. Nearly every major road around here is closed.
We're just sitting around watching Monte Walsh and trying to keep ourselves entertained. I've been working on some Christmas gifts and the saddle. I still wish I had a good book to read. The library called today to tell me that one of the books I had on hold is available. What a tease!
The black line you can see at the end of the video is the top of the door to our shed. I mentioned yesterday that I have most of the ingredients on hand to make a decent Thanksgiving meal for ourselves, but I just realized that most of those ingredients are in the deep freeze inside the shed...on second thought, maybe we'll just postpone Thanksgiving :)
I hope you're keeping warm and have a safe Thanksgiving!
